Facebook to be searchable through Google

From the Facebook blog:

“Starting today, we are making limited public search listings available to people who are not logged in to Facebook. We’re expanding search so that people can see which of their friends are on Facebook more easily. The public search listing contains less information than someone could find right after signing up anyway, so we’re not exposing any new information, and you have complete control over your public search listing.”

Meaning your limited profile is now searchable by Google, etc. Though Facebook wasn’t very “private” to begin with, users should be even more careful about what they post, etc.

This move is just the latest of Facebook’s attempts of making Facebook your one-stop page for everything web. Marketplace, applications, social networking, blogging, mobile messaging - are all available through their site. With all the information posted on users’ profiles, ranging from likes and dislikes, to drunken photos, Facebook has a wealth of information available to them about their market. it’s only a matter of time before the seriously dive into advertising on their site (which they currently dabble in with the Flyers).
